November 13th featured a constant downpour, but this did not deter Tla-o-qui-aht Tribal Park, Surfrider Pacific Rim, and Opitsaht residents from doing an epic beach clean on Opitsaht’s front beach! Together we collected and removed 835 lbs of debris, 356 pieces of plastic, 4 full burlap sacs of foam, 30 lbs of rope, and 2 oyster crates! Thanks to the Pac Rim crew Alys Hoyland, Dede Monette, Mike Lewis, and Nora O’Malley who joined, they will not stop, rain or shine!

Following the clean, Surfrider held the Stitch n Beach Program at the MICC in Opitsaht, making and giving out reusable bags, sharing food and chumus, and chatting the night away! Thanks to Amanda Bear for all of her help coordinating the event, and Margaret Thomas for the amazing food! Thanks to Tla-O-Qui Aht First Nations for allowing Surfrider to utilize the MICC for the event, its such a beautiful space!! Of course, thanks to the fantastic ladies who ran the stitch n beach event, program lead Kelby Jane Morris, Chantal Kerr, & Veronika Miralles Sanchez!
