The Polar Bear Swim started the 2018 New Year off with a cold splash, with hundreds of locals and visitors gathering together on North Chesterman Beach to join Tofino’s annual tradition. Many folks joined the clean up, collecting litter mostly left behind from the previous eve’s activities: cans, bottles, dog poop bags, plastic bags, and fireworks. Altogether, we collected 15 kg of litter and marine debris, seeing that one of our favourite beaches is clean going into 2018! Thanks to Tofino Yoga for offering beach yoga to participants, and Jamie’s Rainforest Inn for supplying the warm drinks, delicious cookies, and prize for the polar bear swim winner!
