Today, Surfrider Pacific Rim had our Tug-O-Whale beach clean up!! And, despite the cold temperatures and rain storm, we shared lots of laughs and collected a lot of micro plastics!! 61 kilograms were collected by about 18 people over two hours, to be exact. We are just one small group helping to spread awareness about the extent of the plastic pollution affecting our earth. The only solution is for everyone to become more aware, stop using plastics, ensure that we all clean up after our collective selves, and to begin to talk about our (life sustaining) ecosystems.
Thank you to everyone for an awesome start to whale fest!!
Lastly, as always, we want to thank this amazing land and its communities that host and guide us, The District of Tofino, the Ucluelet First Nations, and the Tla-o-qui-aht First Nations.
Big shout out to Pacific Rim National Park, Jamie’s Rainforest Inn, and Earth Mama Love Kitchen!!
