Surfrider Pacific Rim held the Third Annual Short Film Festival at the Tofino Botanical Gardens on October 5th, 2018, from 6-9 PM! This festival is organized to celebrate the spirit of activism through the lens of cinema! Local, national and international short films were screened to show the inspiring efforts achieved by local cultures to celebrate and protect the ocean, beaches and waves.

This festival highlights how people positively contribute to their surroundings, and through cinema, can share their diverse stories around the world. Special Guest Janne Robinson, surfer, writer, and activist spoke about her film “I Am A Woman Of Distinction”. Music was played by the duo everybody loves, Mike and Alle Band! This evening sold out, with 150 guests, who all got cozy together under a massive white marquee tent, which stood stoically under the starry night.

Thanks to: sponsors Tourism Tofino & Acheson Sweeney Foley Sahota, to our beer sponsor Tofino Brewing Company, to food supporters Long Beach Lodge Resort and Summit Bread co., to Patagonia for supporting the event with equipment, their booth and rad raffle prizes, Smashing Glasses Event Rentals for the beautiful tent and heater. Additional thanks to all of the businesses who provided raffle prizes: Sitka Billabong, Patagonia, Pacific Coastal Airlines, Tofino Botanical Gardens and Ecolodge, Sea Wench Naturalsand Harbour Health Integrated Therapies!
