2023 Surfrider Pacific Rim Short Film Festival

Get ready for the 2023 Surfrider Pacific Rim Short Film Festival, taking place on April 14th & 15th!

For this year’s event, we are committed to promoting stories of sustainability, diversity and inclusion that further uphold Surfrider's mission of protecting and enjoying the world's ocean, waves, and beaches for all people, through a powerful activist network. In this spirit, we want to make this year’s event as accessible as possible by hosting a hybrid in-person and online format.

The intersection of surf, activism, and community has always been a unique piece of Surfrider Pacific Rim’s purpose, and the ability to connect you with storytellers who share this passion is a great privilege to us. The chosen films have been selected to curate a program highlighting films directed by or featuring members of BIPOC communities, different cultures, gender identities, and socioeconomic statuses. Featuring an array of short films from Canada, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Brazil, the U.K. and the U.S.A. Not to mention, several locally based shorts filmed here, on Tla-o-qui-aht territory.

Our in-person event will also feature a variety of $2 games, as well as complimentary food and drinks.

We would like to thank our funders, including the District of Tofino and Tourism Tofino, and our partners, including Mackenzie Beach Resort, WildFree: Designer & Illustrator, Taste of Tofino, and Tofino Lights and Sound, for their support in making this festival possible.

Join us for a celebration of our oceans, beaches, and waves, and let's continue to work together to protect and enjoy them for all people.
