Secretary

The Secretary is a core member of the Executive Committee and is required to attend core crew meetings. Core crew meetings take place the last Tuesday of every month from 6:15-8:30pm and rotate between Darwin’s Cafe in Tofino one month, and the Ucluelet Aquarium the next. The Secretary is responsible for taking minutes at core crew meetings. The minutes are meant to provide a record of action items decided upon at those meetings, so that we can ensure those action items have been completed in good time. As a member of the Executive you will also be responsible for participating in higher-level decision-making for the organization. If you are a good listener, able to take comprehensive notes, and are available to attend most core crew meetings, you might be perfect for this role! If you would like to know more, please contact volunteercoordinator@pacificrim.surfrider.org

Webmaster

We are looking for a volunteer who has experience working as a WordPress web developer. Our website is currently based on a parent theme developed by Surfrider Headquarters in California, which we have customized for the Pacific Rim Chapter’s needs. Our Webmaster needs to be someone with enough expertise to be able to liaise with the Tech team at Headquarters to resolve coding glitches that may be caused by theme updates, WordPress updates, or other technical issues. We will need someone with the expertise to be able to add custom plug-ins or rearrange sections as the Chapter’s needs change over time. If you think you have the technical know-how, and you would like to help with web development tasks, please contact volunteercoordinator@pacificrim.surfrider.org and let us know a little bit about your web development experience.

Web Support

We are looking for a volunteer that has experience updating wordpress websites. This role is meant to support the webmaster and staff in keeping the website up to date. Tasks may include uploading blog posts, newsletters, photos and bios for core crew, beach cleanup photos or totals, adding new press releases or updating our press page with links to new articles or videos. The vast majority of this work can be done remotely, so if you don’t live in Tofino or Ucluelet, but would like to support our chapter, this might be one way to do it!

If you have not worked with wordpress before, but you have some transferable experience from working on similar website programs, we are able to provide some training to get you up to speed with wordpress. If you are interested in this role, please contact volunteercoordinator@pacificrim.surfrider.org and let us know what experience you have with website-management and how you think you could help!
