We love campaigners, artists, event planners, accountants, environmental experts, social media wizkids, youth workers, as well as all of the valuable volunteers who just want to come out to a beach clean and contribute to protecting what we love. As a Surfrider Pacific Rim volunteer you will be supported by an amazing local crew of volunteers in your community, and be part of the larger global Surfrider Foundation organization. Your dedication to the protection and enjoyment of our beaches, waves and ocean is amazing! And we thank you. You are the bones of the accomplishments we can achieve – together!

CURRENT OPEN volunteer ROLES

  • The Vice Chair is responsible for supporting the Chairperson and growing chapter programs and campaigns. This committee member collaborates with other Executive Committee members, strategizes new program and campaign areas, recruits volunteers for specific program and campaign needs and establishes partnerships with stakeholder organizations.

  • The Treasurer is responsible for supporting the financial health and decision making of the chapter. This committee member maintains the chapter budget and provides advice on fundraising goals and financial needs. The Treasurer is responsible for ensuring the chapter has a strong financial record and is growing sustainably.

  • This volunteer committee is passionate about the prevention of plastic pollution, and working on solutions for our society’s dependence on single-use plastics. This committee involves working with youth, the public, businesses, and government to enact change at various levels. The RAP committee will be involved in all plastics campaigns, they will lead their own projects addressing single-use plastics like bottles, and work with event organizers to help them eliminate single-use plastics and find alternatives. The RAP committee needs to be knowledgeable on the issue as well as determined and hopeful to make positive change.

  • Coordinating/leading your own clean ups, which includes collecting and analyzing data, working with volunteers, as well as engaging the public in conversations around marine debris and plastic pollution. Assisting beach clean apprentices and leads, with their clean ups. Responsible for beach clean kits, and LYBC promotional materials and presenting on LYBC for sponsors and policy.

  • The Volunteer Coordination Committee will work under the guidance of the Volunteer Coordinator to help with volunteer call-outs and helping to recruit volunteers for specific roles, committees, or events. There is a lot of room for creativity in this committee, so if you like connecting people in the community to issues and activities they are passionate about, this committee is for you!

  • We’re looking for an exuberant person to take on running Surfrider Pacific Rim’s Instagram account! This includes sharing photos, writing captivating posts, resharing content from within and outside of Surfrider Foundation, as well as answering communications. This person will also support finding content for Facebook pages.

  • The Fundraising Committee is responsible for creating a fundraising strategy, as well as brainstorming and executing fundraising projects and associated activities. The committee works with staff to establish a fundraising plan that incorporates a series of appropriate vehicles, such as special events, online fundraising projects, merchandise sales, etc.

  • The Events Coordinator is responsible for organizing logistics for Surfrider Pacific Rim events, from behind the scenes details for an event, to assisting the event lead on the day of the event! This volunteer must have an eagle eye for event planning and logistics, and have some experience in event planning, ideally for a diversity of event types. This role is an incredible opportunity to deepen event planning experience, while building relationships in the community, and enjoying all of the freebies, snacks, and other perks associated with events!!

  • Calling all content creators! Are you passionate about photography, videography or graphic design? Do you want to combine the powers of art, design, and conservation to create impact and drive change in your community? If you would love to hit the beach, get out in the community and take photos for social media, the newsletter and website or design eye-catching graphics for event promo and campaign efforts, we would love to hear from you!
